Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has issued a detailed response to Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik regarding the long-standing inter-State boundary dispute over the Kotia Group of Villages in Koraput district.
In an official letter dated Oct 27, 2026 (D.O. No. 762/CM/2026), CM Majhi acknowledged receiving Patnaik’s earlier correspondence dated October 19, 2026.
The Chief Minister firmly stated that the Kotia Group of Villages has been an integral part of Odisha since the state was formed in 1936, asserting that the government remains fully committed to safeguarding its territorial integrity and legitimate interests.
Rebuffing the Opposition’s stance, CM Majhi observed that the contents of Patnaik’s letter appeared to approach the sensitive issue from a “political standpoint rather than advance constructive and legally tenable solutions”.
He emphasised that the state government has consistently upheld its territorial interests through lawful and constitutional means.
Highlighting ongoing grassroots actions, the Chief Minister noted that a high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management—comprising senior officials—has been constituted to oversee the integrated development of the Kotia Gram Panchayat areas.
Ministers and senior officials have been routinely visiting the region to ensure holistic development, public service delivery, and inclusive growth.
Urging all parties to exercise restraint given the sensitive nature of the matter, CM Majhi invited Patnaik to share constructive suggestions for resolving the long-pending dispute before appropriate legal and constitutional forums.
