In view of the impending threat posed by Cyclone ‘Arnab’, the Khordha district administration has ordered the closure of all government, government-aided, and private schools across the district from 1 PM today, Oct 27, and tomorrow, Oct 28, 2026.
The shutdown order applies to all classes from Shishu Vatika (Nursery) to Class 12.
The order was issued by Khordha District Collector Amrit Ruturaj to ensure student safety ahead of the severe weather forecast. However, all headmasters, principals, teachers, and school staff must remain present on duty. School authorities have been instructed to keep school buildings and infrastructure fully prepared to serve as potential cyclone shelters.
To ensure round-the-clock emergency assistance, headmasters and principals have been directed to institute 24-hour roster duties for staff members, with orders for immediate and strict compliance.
Furthermore, the administration has cancelled leave for all government employees in the district until October 31, 2026, to bolster emergency response and relief operations.
