In a shocking incident at Kandara Weekly Market under Joda Police Station, a mobile phone case vendor identified as M.D. Sadam was fatally attacked around 6 PM today.
The assailants, reportedly a group of 3–4 youths, had asked Sadam to put new cases on their mobile phones. As the market had closed and the cases were packed away, Sadam declined the request.
Agitated by the refusal, the youths allegedly assaulted him with a sharp weapon. Sadam was rushed to Basudevpur Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack.
SDPO Debendra Nath Pingua confirmed that an investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits. The incident has sparked concern among local vendors and residents, highlighting the need for enhanced security in weekly markets.
