The body of a missing 9-year-old boy was discovered stuffed inside a sack under mysterious circumstances in Gopinathpur village, within the jurisdiction of the Champua police station in Keonjhar district, early Tuesday morning.
Reports indicate that the child had been missing since yesterday evening, having gone out to play around 5 pm. His family initially refrained from filing a police report, thinking he might be visiting nearby relatives. However, their concern grew when he was still missing by morning.
A local resident, Gouranga Patra, came across an unidentified sack outside his property and promptly notified the local authorities. When the police arrived and opened the sack, they found the boy’s dead body.
Champua IIC and SDPO quickly secured the area, and a forensic team arrived shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the boy’s parents are claiming murder, though the exact details and motives behind the crime have yet to be established. Police are investigating potential motives, including past family disputes and possible witchcraft involvement.
As of the latest updates, the body had not yet been removed from the sack but is expected to be retrieved soon for examination by the forensic team, with police withholding further comments at this time.
