A shocking incident unfolded in Chandili police limits of Rayagada district when the body of a missing man was recovered near Gauda Lelibadi village along National Highway 326.
Police suspect murder after finding injury marks on the body.
The deceased has been identified as Nari Pirubaka (56) of Pipalaguda village. According to reports, Pirubaka left his home on Thursday afternoon with a youth named Gobind Hepruka on a motorcycle heading toward JK Pur. When he failed to return by late night, his daughter Lipi Pirubaka searched for him but found no trace. On Friday, she lodged a written complaint at Chandili police station.
Acting on the complaint, Chandili IIC Uttam Kumar Sahu registered a case and began an investigation. During the probe, police recovered Pirubaka’s body near Gauda Lelibadi village on the Rayagada–Berhampur highway. The body was sent to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem before being handed over to the family.
Police said the presence of injury marks suggested foul play. Gobind Hepruka, who accompanied the deceased, is currently absconding. Investigators believe his arrest will reveal the motive and circumstances behind the suspected murder.
