Mexico’s Fátima Bosch captured the 74th Miss Universe crown, triumphing over more than 100 contestants.
Thailand’s Praveenar Singh secured the First Runner-Up position, while outgoing Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark crowned Bosch. Her victory marked Mexico’s first win since Andrea Meza’s triumph in 2020.
Bosch, hailing from Villahermosa, Tabasco, turned personal challenges into strengths. She overcame dyslexia, ADHD, and hyperactivity, proving resilience and determination. As a graduate in Fashion and Apparel Design from Universidad Iberoamericana, with advanced studies at NABA in Milan, she championed sustainable fashion by transforming discarded materials into meaningful designs.
Before the finale, controversy surrounded the pageant when a video of Miss Universe director Nawat Itsaragrisil shouting at Bosch went viral. Consequently, the organisation restricted his involvement in the event.
During the Judges’ Questions round, Bosch spoke passionately about the challenges women face in 2025. She emphasised courage, collective action, and authenticity. When asked how she would empower young girls, she urged them to believe in their self-worth and individuality.
India’s Manika Vishwakarma impressed audiences by reaching the Top 12. Although eliminated after the swimsuit round, she highlighted inclusive education, mental wellness, and artistic expression during her journey.
The grand event, hosted by Steve Byrne, featured performances by Thai singer Jeff Satur and a traditional Thai showcase. The judging panel included eight members, notably India’s badminton icon Saina Nehwal.
Since its founding in 1952, the Miss Universe Organisation has promoted leadership, social impact, and personal growth. Looking ahead, Puerto Rico will host the 75th edition next year, continuing the legacy of celebrating confidence and global unity.
