President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Bhubaneswar this evening aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft, marking the start of her six-day official visit to Odisha and Chhattisgarh from February 2 to 7, 2026.
She was received at Biju Patnaik International Airport by Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other senior officials. After a warm welcome ceremony, the President’s convoy proceeded to Lok Bhawan under tight security arrangements.
The visit carries deep significance for Odisha, as President Murmu — the first tribal woman and the first citizen from the state to hold India’s highest constitutional office — returns to her home state. Born in Mayurbhanj district, her itinerary reflects both official duties and cultural connections to the region.
Over the coming days in Odisha, the President is scheduled to:
– Attend the convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University in Balasore.
– Offer prayers and perform rituals at the historic Biraja Temple in Jajpur district.
– Participate in cultural programmes and public engagements in Puri and Mayurbhanj.
The tour will later extend to Chhattisgarh, where she will undertake additional official commitments.
