Bhubaneswar: Severe heatwave conditions continue to singe Odisha as at least 11 places in the state recorded maximum temperatures of 34°C or more as early as 8.30 am on Thursday.
The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave warnings for 11 districts of Odisha today, including Bhadrak, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Sonepur, Nayagada, Boudh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Bargarh, Nuapada, and Kendrapada today.
The weather office has also predicted that thunderstorms accompanied by rain may hit some places in the state. People in these areas have been advised to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
People, especially senior citizens, pregnant women, children, and the sick, have been advised to avoid going outdoors between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm and take precautions to avoid heatwave conditions.
