In a shocking incident, Brahmanapadar village in Ganjam district, Odisha, became the site of a gruesome murder. Balram Gaud (30) was tied to a tree and allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother, Shankar, and nephew late Saturday night.
According to sources, Balram had returned to his ancestral village for personal reasons, leaving behind his wife, Sumitra, in Bhanjanagar. On the night of the murder, Balram was reportedly accosted while walking in the village by Shankar and his nephew. They tied him to a tree and attacked him brutally with sticks, leading to his death at the spot.
Police from Tarasingi station and Galleri outpost have initiated a detailed investigation. While the exact motive behind the attack remains unclear, family statements indicate longstanding tensions between Balram and Shankar.
Balram’s father and wife disclosed that Shankar had assaulted Balram severely 7-8 months earlier, resulting in hospitalisation. The trauma forced Balram and Sumitra to move out of their village to avoid further confrontations.
The authorities are exploring every angle to uncover the reasons behind the murder and ensure justice for the grieving family.
