A tragic road accident in Bhadrak district claimed one life and left two critically injured on Tuesday morning. Heavy rain and poor visibility led a speeding car to crash into a stationary container near Nehru Stadium on National Highway-16.
According to reports, the car, heading towards Cuttack, rammed into the container parked illegally by the roadside and slid underneath it. The driver died instantly, while his wife and son sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital. Their identities are yet to be confirmed.
Eyewitnesses said torrential rain had reduced visibility, but the container had been left unattended without warning signals. Locals allege that such illegal parking along the highway has become routine, yet authorities have failed to act.
The incident has reignited concerns about road safety and enforcement lapses. Residents demand strict action against negligent parking and better monitoring by police and transport officials to prevent further tragedies.
