Khurda: A man attempted self-immolation in front of the office of the Khurda Collector here today. The victim has been identified as Brajabandhu Sahu of Bakoi village under Bolagada block.
According to reports, Sahu reached the Collectorate’s office this morning and tried to set himself ablaze by pouring kerosene. However, policemen present at the spot caught hold of Sahu and prevented him from self-immolation. Later, they took Sahu in custody.
Sources said Sahu was defrauded of 16.95 lakh while purchasing timber wood online. Although a complaint was lodged in the cyber crime police station in Cuttack, no action was taken.
Depressed over this, Sahu took such extreme step, sources added.
