Officers from the Kalahandi South Forest Division have detained seven individuals in connection with the smuggling of leopard hides.
The suspects have been identified as residents of Ampadar and Penbhata villages under the Thuamul Rampur Block in Kalahandi district.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding illegal wildlife trafficking, forest personnel executed a targeted operation within the Saisurni Range under the Thuamul Rampur forest division. During the raid, officials recovered two intact leopard skins along with a live wild boar from the possession of the suspects.
All seven individuals are currently undergoing detailed interrogation by forest authorities to trace the broader network and identify potential buyers or links to poaching syndicates. Official sources confirmed that the accused will be produced before the court on Friday as further legal action progresses under the Wildlife Protection Act.
