On the solemn occasion of August Kranti Diwas, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the statewide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, calling upon 4.5 crore Odias to proudly hoist the national flag across villages, towns, schools, offices, and homes between August 9 and 17.
Addressing the gathering, the CM paid tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs, recalling the historic Quit India Movement of 1942. He emphasised that the tricolour is not merely three colours but a symbol of the pride, dignity, and aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians — saffron for courage and sacrifice, white for peace and truth, green for prosperity, and the Ashoka Chakra for eternal progress.
The Chief Minister appealed for an eco-friendly celebration by rejecting plastic flags and embracing cloth flags. A vibrant procession marked the launch, with students, NCC and NSS volunteers, scouts, cultural troupes, and international athletes joining in, chanting “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
Majhi also addressed Gen-Z and youth, warning against external influences, substance abuse, and misuse of social media, urging them to place patriotism above all. He raised the slogan: “One voice of youth power — our nation will be safe!”
Highlighting Odisha’s pivotal role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, Majhi said farmers, workers, youth, and self-reliant women will drive India’s economic and industrial growth. He called upon citizens to honour soldiers and police families during Independence Day celebrations.
The event was graced by Deputy CMs Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, senior ministers, MLAs, BJP leaders, and renowned athletes including Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat, Anupama Swain, Sunil Pradhan, Ravi Kumar, and Kamalakant Nayak, who inspired the youth with their presence.
