Maoist arms dump Koraput

Security forces achieved a major breakthrough in Koraput district by recovering a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from a Maoist dump in Badlipahad forest under Boipariguda Police Station limits.

Acting on intelligence from surrendered Naxals, the District Voluntary Force (DVF) launched a search operation at 5:30 am in the forest bordering Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.

Recovered items included one INSAS rifle, one country-made gun, six Claymore mines weighing about 18 kg, multiple tiffin bomb IEDs of 10 kg and 4 kg, Maoist kit bags, literature, medicines, and food supplies. Officials believe the cache belonged to cadres of the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) and was intended for attacks on security forces and civilians.

This successful operation strengthens Koraput’s progress toward its declared goal of becoming Naxal-free by March 31, 2026. Between January 2025 and March 2026, one Naxal cadre was arrested, and another surrendered in the district. Security forces, including the Special Operations Group (SOG), DVF, and Border Security Force (BSF), continue combing operations to prevent any resurgence of Maoist activity.

Authorities described the recovery as a significant setback to Maoist plans in the region. The operation highlights the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence and field action in countering insurgency.
