Recent reports claiming that actor Kiara Advani will portray legendary star Madhubala in an upcoming biopic have been dismissed by industry insiders.
According to a source familiar with the development, the speculation about Kiara being cast in the project—reportedly produced by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali—is inaccurate.
“There is absolutely no truth to the reports currently circulating about Kiara Advani being cast in a Madhubala biopic produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The claims are completely baseless and speculative,” the source said.
While the biographical film on the iconic actor remains in development, the casting details have not been finalized or officially announced.
Madhubala Biopic Still in Development
Although the production team has not shared complete details, reports suggest that filmmaker Jasmeet K. Reen may direct the project.
Jasmeet previously made her directorial debut with the critically discussed film Darlings, which featured performances by Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Varma.
The potential biopic has generated strong interest among fans of classic Hindi cinema, as Madhubala remains one of the most celebrated figures in Bollywood history.
Kiara Advani’s Recent Work
On the professional front, Kiara Advani was recently seen in the action film War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. The film is part of the expanding YRF Spy Universe.
Despite high expectations, the movie received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and had a modest performance at the box office. Kiara is next expected to appear in the upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.
The Legacy of Madhubala
Madhubala began her acting journey as a child artist at the age of eight. She later made her debut as a lead actor in the 1947 film Neel Kamal.
During the 1950s, she became one of the highest-paid actors in the Indian film industry. Her most celebrated role came in the historical epic Mughal-e-Azam (1960), where she starred opposite Dilip Kumar.
Madhubala also delivered memorable performances in films such as:
-
Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi
-
Howrah Bridge

-

Despite her successful career, she struggled with a congenital heart condition that eventually limited her film appearances. Madhubala passed away in 1969 at the age of 36, leaving behind an enduring cinematic legacy.
