Khariar Police in Nuapada district dismantled a bike theft racket, seizing 15 stolen motorcycles and arresting four culprits.
Acting on the directives of Nuapada SP G.R. Raghavendra, a special team conducted an intensive investigation following a surge in bike thefts in Khariar.
The operation began after a motorcycle was stolen from Jaydeb Panda’s residence in Khairpadar village on June 8. Initial interrogation of suspect Prashant Kumar led to the unravelling of the syndicate.
The arrested individuals, identified as Prashant Kumar (Khariar NAC, Ward No. 7), Bikash Nag (Loharapali), Abhinash Nag (Sagundangari), and Pintu Jha (Putupada), were forwarded to court.
Additional SP Ranjit Nayak addressed a press conference and informed that the seized bikes were recovered from various locations in Khariar, and investigations continue to uncover potential links to other thefts.
This success has brought relief to residents plagued by rising vehicle thefts, reinforcing trust in local law enforcement.
