The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team continued their winning streak during their tour of Europe with a well-deserved victory over Belgium on Tuesday.
India narrowly defeated the Belgian team with a score of 2-1 at the Hockey Center of Excellence, located at Wilrijkse Plein in Antwerp, Belgium. Lalthantluangi (35’) and Geeta Yadav (50’) both scored for India.
The first half ended without any goals, as both teams struggled to break the deadlock in a tightly contested match. In the 35th minute, India finally scored the opening goal when Lalthantluangi successfully converted a penalty stroke.
In the last quarter, Belgium’s Van Hellemont (48’) equalised with a field goal. However, just two minutes later, Geeta Yadav responded with a field goal of her own, securing the winning goal for India.
India’s defence held strong in the final ten minutes, successfully fending off Belgium’s attempts to score and ensuring their victory. After two consecutive wins, the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team is set to face Belgium for the third and final time in their tour of Europe on June 12th.
