Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a strong message to Pakistan on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, warning that any future “misadventure” by the neighbouring country would invite a response “beyond imagination.”

Addressing a gathering at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Singh paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1999 Kargil War and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding India’s sovereignty and national security.

‘Response beyond imagination’ to any misadventure

Speaking at the commemorative event, Rajnath Singh said India would respond decisively to any hostile action from Pakistan.

He warned that every “misadventure” by the neighbouring country would be met with a response “beyond their imagination,” underlining India’s firm stance on national security.

No dialogue with Pakistan except on PoK

The Defence Minister also reiterated the Centre’s long-standing position that any future dialogue with Pakistan would be limited to the issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“There will be no talks with Pakistan other than on PoK, a part of India that was illegally occupied,” Singh said.

Operation Sindoor sent a strong message

Referring to Operation Sindoor, Singh said the military action demonstrated the consequences for those involved in or supporting terrorism.

“Operation Sindoor showed what will be the fate of those who indulge in terrorism,” he said, stressing India’s zero-tolerance approach towards terror activities.

India focused on development

Drawing a contrast between the two neighbouring countries, Rajnath Singh said India is investing in technology and development while accusing Pakistan of encouraging radicalisation.

He remarked that India is building data centres, whereas Pakistan is creating “radical centres,” highlighting the country’s focus on innovation and economic growth.

‘No shortage of political will’

Praising the armed forces, Singh said India’s military has always possessed the capability to defend the country. However, he added that what had changed in recent years was the government’s political resolve.

“It is not that our armed forces lacked capability in the past. They were powerful then as well. The only thing that was lacking was political will. I assure you there is no shortage of political will in the Central Government, nor will there be in the future,” he said.

He added that as long as India’s armed forces continue to guard the nation’s borders, no adversary would dare threaten the country’s security.

Nation honours Kargil heroes

India observed Kargil Vijay Diwas by paying tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War. Memorial ceremonies were held across the country to honour the courage, sacrifice and dedication of the armed forces.
