Ranchi witnessed a dramatic turn of events as the Jharkhand government announced the cancellation of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination following days of intense student protests.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren declared that the Crime Investigation Department (CID) will investigate all examinations conducted by TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL) since 2014. The government also nullified results published by TDPL, citing widespread irregularities.
The decision came after inconclusive talks with protesting students at Jaipal Singh Munda Ground in Ranchi. Their demands for transparency and accountability in recruitment exams had gained momentum, forcing the government to act.
A judicial committee headed by a retired judge will further probe the alleged malpractices. The announcement brought relief to thousands of aspirants, ending hunger strikes and demonstrations. Protest leader Devendra Mahto, who had been on a fast, called off his strike after the government’s move.
This sweeping action marks one of the most significant interventions in Jharkhand’s recruitment process, raising hopes for a fairer system while spotlighting the urgent need for reforms in exam management.
