Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has shared an emotional glimpse into her pregnancy journey, saying she has “always wanted to be a mother” as she prepares to welcome her first child with filmmaker Raj Nidimoru.
The couple, who married in December 2025, announced in June 2026 that they are expecting their first baby. Samantha has since spoken about embracing motherhood with excitement, gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose.
‘I’ve been waiting for this moment’
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Samantha described pregnancy as a dream she has long cherished.
“It’s definitely new and exciting. But I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now. I’ve always wanted to be a mother. So I know that I’ll be giving this my all.”
The actor was first seen with a baby bump during the success celebrations of her latest Telugu film, Maa Inti Bangaaram, before officially confirming the pregnancy.
Pregnancy has brought a new perspective
Samantha said becoming a mother has transformed the way she views life and strengthened her resolve.
“I’ve always been passionate about everything in life. But now I feel I carry a different, new kind of strength and purpose in me. I’m looking forward to this journey a lot. And I’m filled with gratitude, learning every day, and getting ready to embrace whatever comes next.”
Taking a maternity break from films
The actor also confirmed that she will temporarily step away from work after the release of Maa Inti Bangaaram.
She explained that, along with prioritising motherhood, she also needs time considering her health condition following her earlier battle with myositis.
“After Maa Inti Bangaaram, I will have to take a small gap, given my condition. I’ll have to take maternity leave. After that, I’ll be back with another film for my fans.”
Samantha and Raj Nidimoru’s relationship
Samantha and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru first collaborated on The Family Man Season 2 (2021) and later on Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024). Dating rumours surfaced in 2024 before the couple made their relationship public in 2025 through social media posts and a private yogic ceremony at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore.
They tied the knot in December 2025 and announced their pregnancy six months later.
Career milestone
Meanwhile, Maa Inti Bangaaram, directed by Nandini Reddy and created by Raj Nidimoru, has reportedly crossed ₹100 crore worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing female-led Telugu film.
With motherhood around the corner, Samantha says she is embracing this new chapter with optimism while assuring fans she plans to return to acting after her maternity break.
