Israeli forces carried out overnight strikes in southern Lebanon, killing at least 15 people, days after the US-Iran peace agreement reshaped regional dynamics.
The Israeli military confirmed attacks across several areas, describing the targets as Hezbollah militants and infrastructure.
Officials said the strikes responded to repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group. The military added that operations remained ongoing as the situation in southern Lebanon continued to escalate.
According to reports, Israeli jets hit multiple sites, including suspected weapons depots and command centres. The strikes triggered widespread fear among residents, with local authorities struggling to assess the full extent of damage.
The attacks come shortly after the US and Iran signed a landmark peace deal, raising concerns that regional hostilities could undermine its implementation. Analysts noted that Israel’s actions highlight the fragile nature of ceasefire arrangements in the Middle East.
Lebanese officials condemned the strikes, warning that civilian casualties could further destabilise the truce. Humanitarian groups expressed alarm over the rising toll and urged restraint to prevent escalation.
