Karoline Leavitt received an unexpected response from Iran days after announcing the birth of her daughter on social media, as tensions continue between Tehran and the United States over the ongoing West Asia conflict.
The White House Press Secretary recently shared a personal post on X introducing her newborn daughter, Viviana, affectionately called “Vivi,” to the public. In the emotional message, Leavitt wrote that her family’s hearts had “exploded with love” following the baby’s arrival on May 1.
Iran Sends Congratulations With Sharp Reminder
Four days after the post, Iran’s embassy in Armenia responded publicly by congratulating Leavitt while also referencing the deaths of children in Minab during the Iran-US-Israel conflict.
The embassy wrote that children are “innocent and lovable” and referred to the reported deaths of 168 children in a school attack in Minab, a city in southern Iran. The post urged Leavitt to think about “the mothers of those children” while holding her newborn daughter.
The message quickly drew global attention online due to its emotional tone and direct political criticism amid escalating tensions in the region.
Minab School Attack Remains a Flashpoint
According to Iranian authorities, a school in Minab was destroyed during the opening phase of the Iran-US-Israel conflict on February 28. Tehran alleges that the attack killed more than 160 children between the ages of five and seven.
The United States has not officially accepted responsibility for the attack allegations mentioned in Iran’s statement. However, the incident continues to be used by Iranian officials as an example of civilian suffering during the conflict.
US Waiting for Iran’s Response on Peace Proposal
The exchange comes as diplomatic efforts intensify to prevent further escalation in the Middle East. Relative calm was reported around the Strait of Hormuz after days of military flare-ups and security concerns affecting global shipping routes.
Marco Rubio stated that Washington was expecting Iran’s response to a proposed framework aimed at ending hostilities and beginning formal peace discussions.
The proposal reportedly includes a ceasefire arrangement before negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security issues begin.
Iran Issues Fresh Warning to the United States
Amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, Iranian military officials issued renewed warnings against any future attacks. Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia reportedly said that Iran would respond to any aggression with “surprise weapons” and expanded military operations.
Iran also warned countries supporting US sanctions that disruptions in movement through the Strait of Hormuz could occur if tensions continue to rise.
Social Media and Global Reactions
The incident involving Leavitt’s post has triggered debate online, with some users viewing Iran’s response as a political message wrapped in sympathy, while others criticised the use of a personal family moment for geopolitical commentary.
As of now, Karoline Leavitt has not publicly responded to the Iranian embassy’s remarks.
