President of India Droupadi Murmu extended greetings to citizens on the eve of International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8.
She emphasised the importance of women as the foundation of society and the nation.
She highlighted the achievements of women in education, science, sports, art, and defence, noting that their talent and hard work continue to strengthen India. She said that educated, self-reliant, and empowered women contribute significantly to building a prosperous and progressive nation.
Murmu praised young women for shaping the dreams of a new India. She stressed the need for appropriate opportunities, guidance, and encouragement to help them succeed. She urged society to work collectively toward ensuring equal opportunities for women so they can advance based on their capabilities.
The President underlined that International Women’s Day is not only a celebration but also a reminder of the responsibility to empower women and create a society rooted in equality. She expressed confidence that women will continue to play a vital role in India’s journey of progress.
She concluded her message by extending best wishes for the successful celebration of Women’s Day and for a bright future for all women.
