Officials in Jagatsinghpur district unearthed an illegal synthetic milk production unit that had been discreetly supplying adulterated milk to OMFED.
Acting on public complaints, a five-member enforcement team conducted a surprise raid in Balisahi under Tarasahi, where they seized significant quantities of synthetic milk powder and adulterated milk.
Authorities suspect that the operation had been running for months, with milk sourced from local farmers and mixed with powdered substances to enhance volume and fat content, making it appear pure. Samples have been collected for laboratory testing to determine potential health risks, especially for children and the elderly.
With public outrage mounting, residents are demanding stricter checks on milk supplies and harsher penalties for those engaging in adulteration. Officials have assured further investigations to trace the supply chain and identify those involved in the racket.
