The Indian Coast Guard, working in close coordination with civil authorities, rescued 170 stranded persons in flood‑hit areas of Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and South Gujarat through 11 extensive operations since midnight of July 22.

The missions began with the rescue of five people from Khanvel, Silvassa, and three fishermen trapped along the flooded Kadaiya riverbank. One of the largest operations saw 60 persons evacuated from the inundated Welspun Industrial Area where road connectivity had collapsed.

Subsequent rescues included seven passengers from a bus stranded near Aero Fibre Pvt. Ltd., ten people from Dongri, four airlifted from Valsad‑Pardi, and eight from Reliance Industries. In Avadh Society, ten residents—including a nine‑month pregnant woman and another suffering respiratory distress—were evacuated to safety.

On July 24, two Coast Guard helicopters airlifted 33 stranded villagers from Mendar in Navsari district, including a patient with severe chest pain who received urgent medical care.

Despite relentless rainfall, swift currents, and hazardous conditions, Coast Guard personnel pressed on, reaffirming their motto “Vayam Rakshamah” (We Protect). The Service remains on high operational readiness to respond to further emergencies.
