A shocking incident unfolded in the Koira police limits of Deogarh district when a son killed his father and left his mother critically injured during a violent domestic dispute.
The attack occurred in Kadamdihi village under Patamunda panchayat late Monday night.
According to police, the accused Sona Munda demanded food at home. His mother, Raibari Munda, attempted to serve him, but he suddenly turned violent and assaulted her. Hearing her cries, father Pandu Munda rushed to protect his wife. The son then attacked his father with a wooden stick, beating him mercilessly. Pandu Munda died on the spot, while Raibari sustained severe injuries, including a fractured hand.
Koira police reached the scene immediately and seized the body. The accused fled after the assault, and police have launched a manhunt to arrest him. A scientific team from Rourkela arrived to conduct a forensic examination. After the investigation, the body will be sent for a postmortem.
Station officials confirmed that the probe is ongoing and strict action will follow.
