Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India–South Korea relations as both nations signed multiple MoUs to strengthen cooperation across technology, trade, and defence.
PM Modi welcomed President Lee Jae Myung on his first visit to India, calling it a milestone in bilateral relations. He said both countries share democratic values, a market economy, and respect for the rule of law. “We are transforming this trusted partnership into a futuristic one—from chips to ships, talent to technology, environment to energy,” Modi said.
President Lee announced plans to double annual trade volume between India and South Korea from USD 25 billion to USD 50 billion by 2030. He emphasized collaboration in strategic industries such as shipbuilding, artificial intelligence, finance, and defence, along with cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Modi said India and South Korea would continue working toward a peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Indo-Pacific through shared efforts.
The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in semiconductors, critical technologies, investments, and innovation. The partnership builds on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in 2010, which accelerated trade and economic growth between the two nations.
