The Government of India has issued a fresh advisory amid global concerns over the Ebola virus outbreak, urging travellers arriving from affected countries to immediately isolate themselves if they develop symptoms associated with the disease.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare clarified that there are currently no confirmed Ebola cases in India. However, authorities have intensified monitoring and issued precautionary guidelines to prevent any potential spread of the virus.
According to the advisory, individuals who have travelled from or transited through Ebola-affected countries within the last 21 days should remain vigilant about their health.
Symptoms To Watch For
Health officials have advised travellers to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms such as:
- Fever
- Headache
- Muscle pain
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Unexplained bleeding
The ministry stated that anyone showing these symptoms after recent travel to affected regions should isolate themselves and inform local health authorities without delay.
Officials have also urged people to contact the national health helpline 1075 for guidance and assistance.
No Confirmed Ebola Cases In India
The latest advisory follows concerns triggered by the ongoing Ebola outbreak in parts of Africa. However, Indian health authorities have reiterated that there are no confirmed Ebola infections in the country.
Recently, a suspected Ebola case involving a traveller returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo was tested in Gujarat. State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya confirmed that the test result was negative.
The minister appealed to citizens not to panic and to rely only on official information released by health authorities.
Countries Under Watch
The government has advised caution regarding travel to Ebola-affected regions, including:
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Uganda
- South Sudan
Travellers returning from these countries are being monitored closely as part of preventive public health measures.
Global Ebola Situation
The Ebola outbreak has raised international concern after hundreds of suspected and confirmed cases were reported across affected countries.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently classified the outbreak as a significant international public health concern and warned neighbouring countries to remain alert.
While some reports suggest that the situation may be stabilising in certain regions, health authorities continue to focus on contact tracing, testing and surveillance to contain the virus.
Government Urges Vigilance
The Health Ministry has emphasized that early reporting of symptoms remains critical in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Citizens have been advised to follow official health advisories, avoid misinformation and seek medical help promptly if they experience symptoms after visiting affected regions.
Authorities continue to monitor the global situation and have assured that necessary measures are in place to safeguard public health in India.
