India defeated South Africa by seven wickets in Ind vs SA 3rd ODI at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.
With victory in the third and final ODI vs Proteas, the Men in Blue have clinched the series 2-1 and also equalled the world record for most wins in international cricket in a calendar year by winning 38 matches in the year 2022. Earlier, Australia held the world record by winning 38 matches in the year 2003.
Indian team captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to bowl first against South Africa. Batting first, South Africa were restricted to 99 runs in just 27.1 overs, their lowest-ever ODI total against India.
Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of Indian bowlers, taking 4 wickets, while Mohammad Siraj, Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Ahmed bagged 2 wickets apiece. Heinrich Klaasen scored the maximum 34 runs for South Africa.
Indian batters chased down the 100-run target with ease, finishing the match in just 19.1 overs. Opener Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan got India off to a cautious start. Gill missed out on his half-century by just one run with India just three runs away from win. Shreyas Iyer got the job done for his team as he played an unbeaten knock of 28 runs in 23 balls, hitting a six to seal a record-breaking series win at home.
