The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday the elimination of Saeed Izadi, a senior Iranian military commander linked to Hamas and the October 7 massacre.
Izadi, commander of the Palestine Corps of the elite Quds Force, was killed in a targeted airstrike by the IDF in Iran’s Qom region.
According to an official post by the IDF on platform X, Izadi was “a founder of the Iranian regime’s plan to destroy Israel” and held a pivotal role coordinating military efforts between Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hamas. He reportedly directed Hamas operations from Lebanon and played a major role in rebuilding the group’s military capabilities in Gaza after the outbreak of hostilities.
The IDF also stated that Izadi channelled Iranian funds to Hamas and was actively involved in the group’s strategic planning and operations targeting Israel. His death marks a major development in Israel’s ongoing campaign to dismantle the leadership and infrastructure of Hamas and its regional backers.
This strike follows the June 20 elimination of Ali Saadi Wasfi al-Agha, a senior commander of the Mujahideen Brigades in Gaza. The IDF reported conducting over 300 airstrikes across the Gaza Strip in the last week, as part of its ongoing effort to neutralise threats posed by militant groups.
