Odisha Council of Ministers Clear Over 3 Lakh Crore Budget for 2026-27

The Odisha Council of Ministers Meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on Saturday approved the draft full budget of ₹3.10 lakh crore for the financial year 2026-27.

The budget will be tabled in the Odisha Legislative Assembly on February 20 by the Chief Minister himself. The sixth (Budget) session of the 17th Assembly will begin on February 17.

According to sources, the new budget marks a 6.9% increase over the 2025-26 budget of ₹2.90 lakh crore. Capital expenditure is projected to grow by 11.5% and reach ₹72,500 crore.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Law & Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Minister Rabi Naik, School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, Forest & Environment Minister Ganeshram Singh Khuntia, and Industries Minister Sampad Charan Swain. Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari (Sambalpur), Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling (Balangir), Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra (Mayurbhanj) and Higher Education & Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj (Jharsuguda) joined through video conferencing.

After the presentation on February 20, the House will hold a two-day general discussion on the budget on February 23 and 24. Discussion on departmental demands for grants will take place from March 10 to March 30. The Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be introduced on March 31 for final approval.

Last year the government had also got an additional budget of ₹17,740 crore passed by the Assembly.
