In a vibrant display of unity, wellness, and cultural heritage, the Ministry of Education spearheaded mass celebrations for the 11th International Day of Yoga across multiple historic and educational sites in India.
Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan led the flagship yoga session at the scenic riverfront near Maa Samaleswari Temple Complex in Sambalpur, Odisha.
Joining him were officials, dignitaries, and local citizens who embraced the ancient discipline. “Yoga is India’s gift to the world—a time-tested, holistic approach to wellness,” stated Pradhan, lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering efforts to make yoga a global mass movement.
The ministry also organised simultaneous yoga sessions at the Delhi University Convention Centre, the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, and two heritage-rich sites in Karnataka—the Mysore Palace and the Somanathapura Temple. These programs witnessed active participation from ministry officials, faculty, students, and members of the public.
Delhi University’s session saw the presence of top Ministry of Education figures, including Dr. Vineet Joshi, Shri Sunil Kumar Barnwal, and DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh. Meanwhile, academic institutions such as the Central University of South Bihar, IIM Bodh Gaya, and the Central Institute of Indian Languages partnered with local administrations to powerfully anchor the celebrations.
From ancient temples to modern campuses, the message was clear: wellness through yoga transcends boundaries, connecting generations in a collective call for health, harmony, and peace.
