An Indian Air Force (IAF) microlight trainer aircraft crashed in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, during a routine training sortie on Wednesday.
Both pilots on board escaped safely, and no civilian casualties were reported.
Defence sources confirmed that the aircraft went down into a water body near Prayagraj while on a scheduled training exercise. The pilots managed to eject safely and were rescued soon after the crash.
Local authorities and IAF personnel rushed to the site to carry out rescue operations. The aircraft was seen partially submerged in the pond, and efforts were made to secure the wreckage. Officials said further details will be shared once the investigation progresses.
The IAF emphasised that both pilots are safe and receiving necessary medical checks. Officials also assured that there was no damage to civilian property or loss of life in the incident.
The cause of the crash is yet to be determined. Preliminary reports suggest technical issues may have led to the mishap, but a detailed inquiry has been ordered to establish the exact circumstances.
