Bhubaneswar: In view of the low pressure forecast, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner has directed all the district Collectors to closely monitor the situation and take steps to prevent the loss of harvested paddy.
The Odisha SRC has asked the District Collectors to ensure that the harvested paddy be shifted to safe places and kept properly stacked under suitable cover so as to avoid any loss or damage due to rain.
The Collectors have also been asked to take steps to harvest the paddy crop that is ready for harvest and store them safely to avoid any damage. “Necessary measures should also be taken to protect the paddy in mandis, against rain,” the SRC said in the letter.
As per the midday bulletin issued by IMD today, a low pressure area is likely to form over South Andaman Sea by tomorrow, the 30th November 2021. It is likely to move Westnorthwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Southeast & adjoining East-central Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours.
Weather Forecast & Warning:
- Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of south coastal Odisha, at a few places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha from 8.30 am of 03.12.2021 to up to 8.30 am of 04.12.2021.
- Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri from 8.30 am of 03.12.2021 to up to 8.30 am of 04.12.2021. IMD has issued Yellow Warning in respect of the above districts.
Fishermen Warning:
- Under the influence of Low Pressure system, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph likely over Westcentral Bay of Bengal from 2nd December 2021.
- Fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea areas of Westcentral Bay of Bengal from 2nd December 2021.
The SRC has also the District Collectors to ensure that the advisory for fishing is strictly implemented.
