Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to intensify into a depression by November 25.
According to the IMD, the low-pressure area, currently influenced by an upper air cyclonic circulation over the east Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, is likely to move west-northwestwards2. It is projected to develop into a depression over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal around November 253.
The IMD has also issued warnings for heavy rainfall in several regions. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall from November 25 to 282. Additionally, Kerala and Mahe are likely to see heavy rainfall from November 26 to 29, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may be affected from November 27 to 292.
Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the affected areas due to the anticipated squally weather with wind speeds ranging from 35 kmph to 55 kmph2. The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary.
