The State Appropriate Authority under the PC & PNDT Act and the District Appropriate Authority, Baleshwar, have sealed a registered ultrasound facility in Soro after a suo motu surprise inspection revealed serious irregularities.
The joint inspection, conducted on July 9–10, secured the premises to prevent tampering with records and examined compliance with statutory requirements. Officials found non‑submission of mandatory Online Form F records, absence of doctor’s credentials displayed in the ultrasound room, and discrepancies in statutory documentation. Verification of the state portal confirmed no records were filed for the reporting period, prompting further investigation.
The team also discovered equipment and materials indicative of unauthorised medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) procedures at the premises, which is not registered under the MTP Act. Relevant documents and digital evidence have been seized for independent examination.
Proceedings under the PC & PNDT Act, the MTP Act, and other applicable laws are being initiated. Statutory notices and legal action will follow after scrutiny of all evidence.
