The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, Shri Brijesh Kumar Mishra, has completed a detailed inspection of the newly doubled Baiguda–Kakiriguma section (12.385 km) under the Koraput–Singapur Road Doubling Project of East Coast Railway’s Rayagada Division.
The inspection, held on July 9–10, covered track geometry, bridges, signalling and telecommunication systems, overhead electrification, and other safety infrastructure. It also included a motor trolley inspection and speed trials to assess operational readiness.
Following the successful inspection, the section has been commissioned for train operations, marking a major step toward enhancing rail capacity and connectivity in southern Odisha. Senior officials from East Coast Railway Headquarters, Rayagada Division, and the Construction Organisation were present during the inspection.
The commissioning of this section reinforces East Coast Railway’s commitment to timely completion of infrastructure projects, improving freight and passenger movement, and ensuring safer, faster, and more reliable rail services across the region.
