Bhubaneswar: The Home Department in Odisha Government has asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to furnish information regarding leave availed by IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh.
OSD-cum-Additional Secretary of Home Department Muralidhar Mallik has written a letter to Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi seeking a report for further necessary action.
IPS Ashish Kumar Singh took one month’s leave (EL) on May 4 citing health reasons. The home department approved the leave application on May 10. However, a month has passed, but the home department has not received any communication about whether IPS Singh has joined the work or extended his leave period.
According to a press release from Odisha Police, IPS Ashish Kumar Singh took part as IG (Chief Minister’s Security) in a preparatory meeting for Rath Yatra held under the chairmanship of Odisha DGP on July 26.
The presence of IPS Ashish Singh in the Rath Yatra preparation review meeting yesterday and the Home Department today seeking information about his leave period and resuming duty has sparked a new controversy.
