Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their remarkable form in IPL 2025 with a commanding seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Opting to bowl first, GT’s Mohammed Siraj wreaked havoc with his fiery spell, dismissing SRH’s top-order with sensational figures of 4 for 17. Siraj’s milestone 100th IPL wicket was the cherry on top as SRH struggled to build momentum, managing just 152/8 in their 20 overs.
Chasing a modest target, GT faced early setbacks but found a saviour in Washington Sundar, whose counter-attacking knock of 49 runs off 29 balls turned the tide. Shubman Gill’s calm and calculated unbeaten 61 anchored the innings, while Sherfane Rutherford’s blazing 35 off 16 balls sealed the victory with style. The Titans wrapped up the chase in just 16.4 overs, climbing to the second spot in the points table with three consecutive wins.
SRH captain Pat Cummins acknowledged the challenging conditions, lamenting the dew factor and the lack of early wickets to control GT’s chase. For GT, the day belonged to Siraj’s bowling brilliance, Gill’s class, and Sundar’s flair, a combination that reaffirms their championship aspirations.
