The Narendra Modi Stadium erupted as Washington Sundar smashed a towering six off the final ball to script a breathtaking finish, propelling Gujarat Titans to a 4-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in a last-over thriller that had fans on the edge of their seats.
Punjab Kings were rocked early by Gujarat’s fiery pace attack. Siraj, Rabada, and Holder combined to dismantle the top order, leaving PBKS reeling at 47/5 inside 9 overs. A spirited counterpunch came from Suryansh Shedge, who struck a brisk 57 off 29, and Marcus Stoinis, adding 40, to lift the Kings to a fighting total of 163. Holder’s four-wicket haul stood out, while Rabada and Siraj chipped in with two apiece.
Chasing, Gujarat Titans lost Shubman Gill cheaply, but Sai Sudharsan continued his purple patch with a fluent 57 off 41. After his dismissal to Vyshak Vijaykumar, Washington Sundar anchored the chase, finishing unbeaten on 40 from 23 balls to see GT home in the final over. PBKS bowlers Vijaykumar and Arshdeep Singh struck twice each, but the total proved insufficient against Gujarat’s composed batting unit.
