In a dramatic turn of events, West Bengal Governor RN Ravi dissolved the state assembly today, formally ending the Trinamool Congress government’s tenure.
The move, executed under Article 174 (2)(b) of the Constitution, marks the conclusion of Mamata Banerjee’s role as Chief Minister.
The dissolution came a day after the government’s term expired, leaving the Governor to assume interim charge until a new administration is sworn in.
Banerjee, however, refused to resign voluntarily, alleging that the BJP’s victory was marred by vote looting, EVM tampering, and collusion by the Election Commission.
With the cabinet dissolved, Bengal enters a transitional phase as political focus shifts to the formation of the next government.
