IPO‑bound drone technology company Garuda Aerospace has partnered with the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation (GITDC) and the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) to empower women through drone skilling.
The initiative, aligned with the government’s broader Drone Didi programme, aims to train 100 women every financial year in Goa and create 300 certified women drone pilots over three years, subject to statewide approval.
The first cohort of 12 women, dubbed the Special 12 by the Goa IT Minister, received intensive training in drone technology, flight simulation, assembly, maintenance, safety, and practical flying. They showcased their skills before the Minister, demonstrating independent drone operations.
Garuda Aerospace CEO Agnishwar Jayaprakash said the initiative highlights how technology can enable economic independence and social transformation. The company, one of India’s largest Remote Pilot Training Organisations (RPTOs), has already trained over 500 rural women and delivered 446 drones to women‑led Self‑Help Groups across 20 states under the Namo Drone Didi Yojana.
The programme reflects Garuda’s commitment to democratising drone technology, expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs, and building a digitally empowered workforce.
