Kalimela police seized 1,025 kilograms of ganja valued at more than Rs 1.02 crore during a patrol near MV‑73 village under Kangurukonda panchayat.
The contraband was reportedly stockpiled for smuggling into neighbouring states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Police sources said traffickers fled the spot after receiving advance information about the patrol, leaving behind the massive haul.
The seized ganja was measured in the presence of Kalimela Tahsildar Ramakrishna Satya Rajguru and taken into custody as evidence. No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are underway to identify those involved in the smuggling network.
Kalimela IIC Prabhudatta Vishwal confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act (Case No. 193/2026). Police suspect the consignment was intended for interstate trafficking and are probing the wider network behind the operation.
