Gajapati Police rescued two residents of R. Udayagiri Block who had been trapped in bonded labour and illegal confinement in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The victims, Santiel Karado (54) and his son Gamliel Karado (29), worked under a businessman for five years before their employer confined them for eight days without food, wages, or contact with family.
Family members approached SDPO R. Udayagiri, Rakesh K. Sahoo, IPS, seeking help. Acting swiftly, Gajapati Police coordinated with Tirupati Police and shared details of the victims’ situation. The joint operation led to the successful rescue and safe return of both labourers.
Upon their arrival in Gajapati, SDPO Sahoo met the rescued men and assured them of full assistance. He stated that Tirupati Police would take legal action against those responsible for exploitation and confinement. He also confirmed ongoing coordination with the Labour Department to identify other victims from Gajapati facing similar conditions.
