Amresh Kumar Jaiswal, Indian Forest Service (IFS), Former Conservator of Forests, O/o Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Aranya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, has been convicted in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The Hon’ble Special Judge, Special Court, Vigilance, Cuttack, pronounced the verdict today, sentencing the retired officer to rigorous imprisonment for two years and imposing a fine of Rs 50,000. The case was registered under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, following a charge sheet filed by Odisha Vigilance.
Jaiswal was found guilty of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during his tenure in the Forest Department. The conviction marks a decisive step in Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing efforts to curb corruption in public service.
Following the judgment, Odisha Vigilance has announced its intention to approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for the stoppage of Jaiswal’s pension benefits.
This case adds to the growing list of high-profile convictions aimed at reinforcing accountability and transparency within government institutions.
