Bhubaneswar: The Infovalley police foiled a dacoity bid by apprehending five highway robbers who were planning to commit loot on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
A team of Infovalley police station was conducting night patrolling in the area, when they received information that a gang of robbers had assembled at a secluded place in Bada Pokhari area of Gohira Chhakk and were planning to commit robbery from the national highway last night.
Acting swiftly, the patrolling unit raided the spot and arrested five robbers while seizing two motorcycles, one sword, one knife, one steel pipe, one iron rod, some liquor bottles and some chilli powder from their possession.
During interrogation, all the accused admitted that they were hatching a plan to commit robbery from different places along the National Highway-16 late at night.
At the end of the investigation, all the accused have been forwarded to the court today.
