Puri: Within 10 hours of dousing a major fire at Laxmi Market Complex, another fire broke out at a nearby shopping complex in Puri on Friday late afternoon.
As per reports, a fire broke out at the Odisha Handloom showroom in Niladri complex at Marichikote Square on Grand Road. The complex is just 50 metres away from the Laxmi market complex which saw a massive fire on Wednesday night and the blaze was contained today morning after 37 hours of ordeal.
Sources said that as soon as the fire was reported at the Niladri complex, firefighters swung into action and contained the blaze in a short span of time using fire extinguishers.
The fire may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit in the garment showroom, ‘Odisha Handloom’ on the second floor of the complex, sources added.
Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh, City DSP, Town Police Station IIC Gokula Ranjan Das reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The officials said that it was a minor fire incident and there was nothing to worry about.
