Rourkela Excise Department carried out extensive raids in Karichhapal, Ankurpali, and Tankatoli areas under the direct supervision of Superintendent Dhaneswar Barad.
The operation involved Virmitrapur Police, Hatibari Police, APR Force, and magistrates.
Officials registered nine cases, including two claim cases and seven non-claim cases. The raids targeted illegal mahuli liquor production and storage. At Karichhapal, officers destroyed 220 litres of illicit mahuli liquor and 18,720 kilograms of mahuli flowers. At Ankurpali, they destroyed 300 litres of illicit mahuli liquor and 18,800 kilograms of mahuli flowers.
Authorities arrested two accused and produced them in court. The Excise Department confirmed that the crackdown aimed to curb illegal liquor trade and protect public health.
Excise Inspectors Mohan Padhan and Hemant Mahanandia, SI Milan Tirkey, ASI Binodini Behera, Bidyut Bhusan Dash, and Yubaraj Bag participated in the raids along with other staff. The department stressed that such coordinated actions strengthen enforcement and deter offenders.
The Excise Department highlighted that the operation demonstrates its commitment to strict enforcement against illegal liquor activities in Rourkela and the surrounding regions.
