Singapore-based Global Finance and Technology Network (GFTN) inaugurated its first India operations office in Bhubaneswar, reinforcing Odisha’s innovation journey and creating new opportunities for young professionals.
Odisha Electronics and IT Department Secretary Vishal Dev said the program began as a vision to establish a major FinTech hub in Bhubaneswar. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the visit of the President of Singapore in January last year, and within a year, the program was launched successfully.
More than 300 students joined the first batch of the GFTN program. Over 100 secured placements, while 25 earned internships in Japan and Singapore. The initiative trained commerce and science graduates in FinTech skills, building a strong talent pool for global companies.
Several firms are in advanced discussions to set up Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in Bhubaneswar. The second batch of the program has already begun, incorporating improvements based on the first batch’s experience.
The Black Swan Summit, a global FinTech event hosted under the GFTN initiative, achieved remarkable success last year. Officials confirmed plans to expand the summit further next year.
Vishal Dev emphasised that all objectives of the GFTN program—talent creation, company onboarding, and global event hosting—have been achieved or are close to completion. The new office strengthens Odisha’s position as an emerging FinTech hub in India.

In partnership with the @EIT_Odisha, this new office space is a stepping-stone to create pathways for the country’s young population: future-ready skills, jobs, and access to mentors and experts. @CMO_Odisha @OCAC_Odisha More: https://t.co/DlZfKDnLkB pic.twitter.com/frYUIRthdL
