Ex-Revenue Inspector (Rtd) Of Dhenkanal’s Rasol Circle Convicted In Bribery Case

Cuttack: The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance in Dhenkanal on Monday convicted Khageswar Sahoo, Ex-Revenue Inspector (retired) who was facing trial for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.500 from a complainant for submitting land demarcation report of land related to Jatiababa Pani Panchayat.

Today, the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal convicted Khageswar Sahoo, Ex-RI and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months and to pay fine of Rs.1,000, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/-(Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

Hare Krushna Behera, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Cuttack Division had investigated the case and Rakesh Sahu, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Dhenkanal conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
